ROOTS, SHOOTS & FRUITSSample
Reflections
When the heat of summer comes, I’ll need to step up the watering of my potted plants. The soil dries out easily, and of course the only water those plants will get in summer comes from the reticulation or the hose that we provide to them.
Jeremiah compared the spiritual wellbeing of God’s people to a tree that is planted by a permanent water source. Unlike my potted plants, the tree can put its roots down deep and draw on the water to survive and flourish. Our connection to and trust in God is as life-sustaining and nourishing as this tree’s water source.
Question
As you reflect on your life, how has your faith in God caused you to flourish?
Our flourishing is never solely for our own benefit. How are you “bearing fruit” as a result of your relationship with God?
Prayer
Loving God, I thank you for being my source of life and hope. I long to grow strongly in my relationship with you, to have courage to face life’s challenges and to be fruitful in sharing your blessings with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan
What does a life that is flourishing in the Lord look like? A garden flourishes when the roots of the plants are nourished with rich, fertile soil and sufficient water. In this series, we will explore some Scripture passages that remind us of the practices, convictions and connections which help our faith and lives to flourish, whatever our circumstances.
