Selecting the Right Board Sample
Selecting the Right Board - Part II
This week I’m addressing the importance of selecting the right leaders for a board or church. Yesterday, we discussed the qualities to avoid in an overseer. For the rest of the week, we’ll highlight the admirable traits that the Apostle Paul recommends in an overseer.
In Titus 1:8, Paul said about overseers, “Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.”
In Greek, the word for hospitable means fond of guests or a lover of people. A board member or elder is an ambassador for the organization.
If they easily offend others or don’t like people, they will not be a good ambassador. When seeking a new board member, find a good ambassador. They may not always be extroverted, but they do need to love people.

About this Plan
In the Book of Titus, the Apostle Paul provided some wise direction in the attributes that should and should not be present in an overseer or board role. We would do well to heed his wisdom when selecting leaders for church or business.
