3 Lessons of the Blessing of the ThornSample

Lesson #2: Thorns May Be Here To Stay.
Many times focusing on our “weaknesses and flaws” can make us feel inadequate. Paul’s life is a wonderful example of how God's grace is sufficient in our weaknesses.
On three different occasions, Paul begged the Lord to take the thorn in the flesh away. God refused. There are going to be some thorns in our lives that God chooses to leave rather than take away. When God says “no” to our cry for Him to take away the thorn, we have to trust the Lord that our relationship with Him is stronger with the thorn present than with the thorn absent. We learn so much about the power of God through our weaknesses and suffering. God oftentimes allows our strength to be surrendered so that we can fully experience His true power. If life was perfect and painless, would many of us still believe we needed God? Because of our human nature, we can only do so much within our own power. Our purpose is found in giving God the glory even in the midst of thorns.
Have you ever taken into consideration how often God’s grace touches your life?
