Restoring Life: Unity in DiversitySample

Restoring Life: Unity in Diversity

DAY 2 OF 4

As a black female working in the orthopedic community, I have often felt as if I had to work twice as hard as those around me to validate my worth. I have even experienced seasons of feeling that my specific role within the industry was insignificant. I felt as though my role as a Sterile Processing Manager was too small or unimportant.

However, God tells me differently. I knew he made me a strong and wise disciple because God is never concerned about a person’s skin color, national origin, or title.

In Romans: 2:11 it evens says, “For God does not show favoritism”!!

Representing a diverse background drove me to the conclusion that it’s those very diverse attributes that make me special and drive my gifts. I have also realized that an individual can’t reach his or her goal without the help of others. In fact, 1 Corinthians 12:12 states, “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.”

We all have God-given gifts, but these gifts do not all have the same function. My personal gift is unspeakable joy. This gift is instrumental in my work to help restore a patient’s life. My gift, although different from those around me, assures me that my role is not too small or unimportant. Rather, I’m assured that just as it says in 1 Corinthians 12:18-20, my race, role, and purpose were all carefully crafted by God to serve his divine purpose.

My strength and determination in the Lord has served me well in my role. He has given me eyes to see how he has made each and every one of us in His image, perfectly made.

Questions to think about:

Why is diversity so important?

What can you do to help with the inclusion of your co-workers?

Are you aware of any unconscious biases in your life?

Prayer: Most Gracious Heavenly Father, may we show respect for all who enter our lives. We were all made of your image, perfectly made. You, Lord, do not see us as being of a different race. You see us as one: the Human Race. Please give me eyes to see the unique purpose that everyone serves. Amen

About this Plan

Restoring Life: Unity in Diversity

Although we all look different, together we are called as one under Christ. When the parts are strong, the body is strong - the orthopedic industry included! This industry is comprised of many people working together to create restoration for their patients. Each person brings a unique and special talent that without, restoration would not be possible. Let’s celebrate the diversity that God has crafted!
