An invitation to a deeply spiritual journey
In Ezekiel 5:5, the Lord says, "This is Jerusalem. I have set her in the center of the nations."
The Holy Land is indeed holy to more people than any other single place on earth. As we spend the next few days traversing this amazing land together, we will retrace the steps of Jesus and so many more who have called the region home over the millennia. And while we will not be there in person, our hope is that each place we visit will help the Bible come alive in a new and exciting way for all of us.
This devotional is designed to be read daily, starting on the first day of Lent. Each entry will require only a few minutes to read, but we hope that the suggested reflections, questions, and prayer topics will spur you to spend much longer in conversation with the Father about what you’ve learned and experienced through that day’s reading.
If you've been a Christian for very long, it can be easy to read the Bible or hear the stories taught from its pages and forget that it's the record of real people who walked the same earth and breathed the same air we all share today. Seeing where they lived and learning about their world can help us gain a better understanding of why their legacy, whether good or bad, is so important for us today.
And there's no better time to start that journey than in the weeks leading up to Easter.
So, whether it's the soaring peaks of Mount Hermon or the watery depths of the Dead Sea, the bustling city of Tel Aviv or the ancient ruins of Masada, the site honoring Christ's birth in Bethlehem or his death and resurrection in Jerusalem, our hope is that this journey through the Holy Land will help you better place yourself within the pages of Scripture and come away with a new appreciation for all God has done and continues to do in our world.
Will you join us?
Right now, spend two minutes in silence, then ask God to prepare your heart to hear from Him today and on each day during this devotional.
