Life On MissionSample
An important characteristic of God that we need to model is his compassion. Compassion must become more than a feeling. We need to change how we look at and treat others. Compassion, if only a feeling, is simply indifference. It recognizes a hurt or pain, but is unwilling to do anything about it. Indeed, compassion will motivate you away from complacency and into chaos. The brilliance of God will shine through you in those moments when compassion stirs your heart and you get to act on it.
As we gain God’s heart for others, and learn to tune our motivations to His, then we will find increased opportunities to meet people right where they are and serve them.
This is the father heart of God for us and for all of humanity. In the story of the prodigal sons Jesus teaches us about the posturing of a compassionate father.
Compassionate people run to hurting people, just like the father did to his hurting son. This must be our posturing and our catalyst to love the city. We must have a deep and profound compassion for others.
Your mission this week is to show deep and profound compassion for someone. Be inconvenienced and intentional. Who in your life could use some compassion? What would be good news for that person? Who could use an encouraging word today? Place some action behind your compassion and love someone today. Extend to them acceptance, grace and patience.
Pray that being a compassionate person will be a larger part of your life. Pray that God will direct you with strategic ways to be a blessing. Invite God to shape and change your heart to be one that is more compassionate and caring.

About this Plan
Welcome to the Life on Mission devotional. We can often get overwhelmed with the demands of life and chaos of our world. We quickly forget that God has a mission for us while on earth. There are amazing things for you to see, do and accomplish and God empowers you to do all of them. This devotional is meant to get your life out of a rut and onto God’s mission for your life. Every third day there will be a “mission” for you to apply to your life. We’re God’s people, on a mission, to reflect his goodness to the entire world. Let’s do this!
