Taking a Real RestSample
Reflection
“...Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you...” (Mathew 11:28-30, The Message)
The ‘unforced rhythms of grace.’ These are some of my favourite words of paraphrased scripture. The flow, the ease of living in Jesus’ slipstream of grace to literally go with the flow.
And all we need to do is to follow. When he says, ‘this the way, walk in it,’ we just walk in it. And all is well, even during a storm.
I’d love to tell you that this is how I live all the time, but it isn’t, at least not yet. I rarely stay still and silent long enough for Jesus to get a word in and I, more often than not, don’t check before I choose which way to turn. But, when I have taken the time to spend time with him, to ask before I leap, things have gone much better, feel much lighter, paths have straightened, and storms have calmed.
Prayer
Father, help me to learn to do things your way. Please keep calling out to me. I want to rest into those unforced rhythms of grace and go with your flow.

About this Plan
After the year that was 2020, we all need rest. Rest is a good thing; it heals, it restores, it renews. God values rest: The Bible reveals how important it is. Like the good Father he is, God wants us to enjoy rest, and even instructs us to rest. But, how good are we at actually resting and resting in the way God deems best?
