Debt-Freedom: What the Bible Says About Debt Sample
Seek God Before the Credit Card
Next time you are facing a decision of whether or not to take on another debt, pray about it first. Could it be possible that God wants to provide for you in some miraculous way?
I remember many instances when I just reached for the credit card to solve my problem rather than getting on my knees.
You can search high and low in the Bible and you won’t find many instances of God providing for His people through a loan. He seems to enjoy his children looking to Him as the provider who we can trust in ANY situation.
It isn’t that taking on a debt is a sin, but rather that God is in the freedom business. From setting Joseph free from prison, to setting Israel free from slavery, to Jesus dying to set us all free from the shackles of sin. It should be no surprise that He wants to help break us free from the shackles of debt. Right?
The next time you have a financial need, take a moment. Pray to see where God may be directing you. We often forget to include God in our financial plans. When you are tempted to reach for your credit card, or any other loan, be sure to give God a chance to do the miraculous first.
