SWHW Two Year Bible Reading Plan: March, Year 2Sample
Top Takeaway from Jessica Hottle:
In today's reading, we can see the writer often talking to God about coming to save him and restore the people. When you get to Psalm 81, verses 11 and 12, you will notice how God doesn't make His people choose Him.
“But My people did not listen to My voice,
And Israel did not obey Me.
So I gave them over to the stubbornness of their heart,
To walk by their own plans."
I doubt you would see this scripture on Instagram. But the scriptures that don't take up a cute square are often the scriptures we need the most.
Who wants to be challenged and know they may need to repent of their disobedience?
Who wants to walk through the journey of knowing that maybe it was their selfish ambition that has led them to a worn-out, exhausted life?
The answer is no one. We want to get it right, and most of us want to get it right all the time.
Verse 11 says that they did not listen to God’s voice. Which means they heard His voice but chose to do something different. Knowing the enemy comes to twist the Word of God, it can be easy for us to get distracted while we ask ourselves, "Did God really say that to me?”
Here is our hope for today. May we become women of change. Women who embrace the tension of conviction while still heeding to the Father's voice. The Father's voice is kind. His voice doesn't rush us to make decisions or force us to work ourselves into loneliness or burnout.
May we be women who are encouraged when we read passages like this. That His love requires choice, and every day, we get to choose Him.
He has promised to be with you through everything. Whatever choice you make, He can still make it good. May we be women who offer up what we have and be willing to repent, turn in a new direction, to grow our relationship with the Father.
May we be women who know we are not perfect and welcome that.
Father, thank You for continuing to love us in and through everything. We can do nothing apart from You. Guide us in our actions. Lead us deeper to You, even when we don't get it right. We love You, Amen.
About this Plan
Using God's Word as the foundation for our conversation, every devotional is written by women in the trenches of faith, family and work; aiming to live for the glory of God and the good of others. There are enough devotions included for a typical five-day work schedule. We recommend plugging into your local church for the remaining two days of each week.
