RebelliousSample

Written by Rosemary, age 20, from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, USA
What is love? We so often hear it tossed about in casual everyday language: “I love chocolate,” “I love my friends,” “I love this celebrity.” We use the word love so freely, but do we really know what it means? Do we really know what God means when He talks about love in the Bible?
Our Bibles reveal that He loves us so much that the moment sin and brokenness entered the world, God had a plan to redeem and restore us. He sent His son Jesus to Earth and laid down His own perfect life to take the punishment for sin. God’s actions revealed the true desires of His heart— to be in unity with us. This was the ultimate act of love.
Like God, our actions are guided by the people or things we love. As the greatest commandments given to us in the Bible are to first love God and then love our neighbor as ourselves, it is clear that truly loving as God has shown us requires action such as taking care of our neighbors and helping them grow closer to God. So who can you share God’s love with this week?
