Leading Things You Didn’t Start Sample
Your Unique Contribution to Your Leadership
Do you ever wonder if you’re enough? If you have what it takes? Do you ever wonder if your personality makes sense for the role you’re stepping into?
Donald Miller talks at length in his Storybrand marketing workshops about this very reality. In every great story, the main character searches for the answer to that question. Do I have what it takes?
The answer is yes to all of the above. God was very intentional when he created you at birth and with the wiring you have for this moment and this leadership opportunity. What if you walked into this new role with a complete belief that God’s Spirit will be with you the entire time? What if you trusted what the passage for today says about you?
Your calling and your creation are not separate. The sooner you become proud and work with that unique wiring, the sooner God can do more of what He designed you to do. He literally looked at the story of your life while knitting you together!
King David had a million reasons to turn from God and a million to turn towards Him. Read Psalm 139 and pray that God shows you how He picked you for this new space. Ask God to show you how your uniqueness will be crucial to your success. There are many others He could’ve put in this role but He didn’t. He put you.

About this Plan
Many leaders do not initiate something new. Most of us when called upon, will step into a leadership space that someone else started. We will join a team that already exists and ownership of something we’ve inherited. Taking over requires a different leadership skill and approach than starting something from scratch. Over the next five days, let’s journey together towards God as we learn to lead things you didn’t start.
