It's the Little ThingsSample
Day 3- Kingdom Focused
“That’s not enough because His love ain’t a little thing”
Rather than being consumed with the worries and cares of this world, we should be consumed with thoughts of the Kingdom. It’s such a crazy world we live in, we never have too look far to find something to complain about, or to find something that worries us.
Jesus came in one of the most turbulent times in history, and yet He was always Kingdom focused. I think this is a lesson for all of us. It’s so easy to get distracted by this world and its anxieties, but it will drain the joy and purpose out of you.
The world will try to tell you so many things. Things like:
- You’re a teenager? You should be dating, going to parties, finding yourself, making a lot of friends, etc.
- You’re a young adult? You should have a significant other, a good job, be in process of getting a degree, have your life all figured out, etc.
- You’re an adult? You should be married, have kids, a stable job, a retirement plan, etc.
And the list goes on and on. When we listen to all of these things, we find ourselves dissatisfied with who we are and the life God has given us. All because it doesn’t look the way we think it should. All because we are looking to the world to define the true meaning of life instead of trusting in God’s word.
God’s word has an abundance of knowledge and wisdom on the ways that will bring us true joy and life. And they are all found in walking with Christ and not the world. I challenge you to do some self-reflection by reading God’s word and I promise you will see your life more clearly.
I’ll also leave you this quote that really helped me in letting go of worldly concerns: “Don’t let your happiness depend on something you may lose.”- C. S. Lewis.
Prayer: Lord, help me to focus on You alone. Help me to cut things out of my life that are leading to constant dissatisfaction and a drainage of purpose. Amen.
Action: Spend one whole day away from social media, news, and Netflix. Spend that time in prayer and reading instead. Watch how much more joyful you’ll become!
