Be Kind
Reflection
Be kind and treat others kindly. Kindness is a seed that when sown in the life of others will be reaped by you. To treat others kindly is to prepare yourself for a better future. Life can be so full of activities that we often forget to treat others with kindness. A simple act of kindness, such as helping a blind man find his way or giving some food to a homeless person goes a long way to affect the lives of others. Most times we think that we need to do so much to be kind to others. However, being kind to others is in little folds and simply requires you to be empathetic toward others.
This is what God expects of us. The Bible makes it clear to us in Romans 12:10 that we should be kind to others. This act of kindness is not in any way limited to those who we know. It also includes those who are strangers to us. This is how God expects us to live our lives. Every time you are kind to someone, you help make the world a better place to live for that person. This goes a long way in giving hope and succor to such a one. Indeed, life takes a different perspective as that person also resolves to be kind to others.
Even those who are unkind to us are not left out. The Bible encourages us in Matthew 5:44 to show kindness even to those who are unkind to us. This is the nature of God and the way He expects us to behave. Can you remember when last you took care of someone who was a stranger? Do you know that this is what you should do often? Embrace kindness as a way of life today. Make someone smile by being kind to them.
Prayer
God, help me to be kind to others. I need your help to treat strangers with kindness. Help me to be kind to even those who hurt me or are unkind to me.
Next step
Look for someone to be kind to today. Find a way to put a smile on that person's face. This could be a homeless person or even a total stranger. Let someone's heart be glad because of your kindness.
Scripture: Proverbs 11:25
“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”
