Longing to BelongSample

I used to battle rejection, but now I believe what my Creator says about how valuable I am. Rejection may have trapped me behind enemy lines in the past, but it will never defeat me again. Not ever. Just saying it makes it so. I owe that win in a big way to Psalm 139, and I’m cheering you on to a similar victory. I believe you can rout rejection or any other enemy of your true identity. I believe you can discover the joy of acceptance. I sincerely do. With everything in me, I want you to believe it, too. Believing is key. So is speaking. 

On Day One, I promised to teach you a Scripture-based manifesto. So far, you’ve declared these truths:

• My tongue has power, so what I say matters.
• I am worth dying for.

Each day, you’ll declare a new line from the manifesto. These simple declarations hold supernatural keys to freedom. I know these keys work because they opened my eyes to see myself as loved and accepted. They unlocked the truth of my extreme value and esteemed identity. They exposed lies about my worth as empty words that wilt under the weight of God’s promise.

Will you push away the lies you’ve believed about your worth, and pull yourself up into the truth of what God says about you? Your ascent out of the pit of an unmet longing begins by grasping the promises in Psalm 139:1–4. God knows everything about you, and loves you completely and utterly anyhow. Once you sip the security of being fully known by God, you can’t help but taste freedom. Declare with confidence that you are unconditionally loved and accepted. Your tongue has power. Use it for good.

Declare this truth: 

God knows me.

Pray this aloud:

Dear God, help me to rest in the knowledge that you’ll never turn your back on me after some deep, dark secret is exposed because nothing I could do or say or even think, will ever surprise you. Help me trust that since you already know everything about me, you won’t change your mind about what you think of me. Thank you that I can be absolutely secure in the knowledge of your unfailing love for me. Thank you that you’ve already made the decision—through the sacrifice of your Son—to love me and accept me forever. Amen.
