[2020 Vision] Rest-Olutions and Resolutions: Wrap UpSample
Long for Jesus’ Return
Jude’s fourth word to the church is a hope that they would be “waiting expectantly for the mercy of our Lord Jesus for eternal life.” Long for the return of Christ. Many Old Testament prophecies said that Christ would come as the Messiah, the Savior of the world. And He did so. But Old and New Testament prophecies also foretell His return. It’s called the Second Coming. Jesus is coming back, and we are to long for His return.
I know that some of us are like, “If You're coming back, don't come back till like a week from Monday, because I really want to watch the Superbowl.” Singles are like, “Please, please, please don't come back till I get married.” Others say, “Please don't come back till I have kids,” or “Please don’t come back till I go to college.” Whatever it is, we're always begging God. But Jesus returning is an awesome thing. It's incredible. It's wonderful. It's the greatest thing. It's better than anything you could do, eat, see, watch, or be a part of. Jesus is returning.
There’s an old poem called “Next Sunday.” It says,
If Christ should come next Sunday,
And it may be that He will,
Would the thing that I’ll be doing
Set the Master’s heart athrill?
If the Christ should come next Sunday
Would He find me loyal, true,
In my place with my influence
Doing what He’d have me do?
If the Christ should come next Sunday,
Let’s suppose He came at ten,
Would He hear me answer “present”
In the class I should attend?
If the Christ should come next Sunday,
If He came just at eleven,
Would He find me in His service,
Singing praises unto heaven?
If you’re going to build your faith in 2020, you must know what you believe, pray with power, walk in His love, and long for His return. Let God firm up your faith. Do you know Christ the Savior? If He returned at this very moment, would you rejoice to see Him?
