Swhw Bible Reading Plan: April

DAY 15 OF 22

Top Takeaway from Audra Haney:

Do you have intimacy with the Lord? Do you seek to walk with Him? Have you spent enough time in His Word, His Presence, and in worship to know His voice?

In 2 Kings 20, we find the account of King Hezekiah. He was a king that passionately sought the heart of God. He removed the idols and distractions from the land. During his reign, he purified the temple and the priesthood and he was a man after God’s own heart, like his ancestor David.

I believe, because of this intimacy, we see the Lord give him a profound gift.

In the form of this warning:

“In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.” 2 Kings 20:1

How often are men given their date of death and the gift of putting their house in order?

Because of Hezekiah’s dedication to seeking the heart of the Lord, he had the gift of hearing the Lord. When we walk closely with the Lord, study His Word, and learn His ways- we position ourselves to hear His voice clearly. We have access to His wisdom and guidance.

The Lord spoke to Hezekiah, but Hezekiah also spoke back to the Lord- and got a profound answer.

“Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord.  I will add fifteen years to your life.” 2 Kings 20:5-6

The heart of God moved Hezekiah. Likewise, the heart of Hezekiah moved the Lord.

How could knowing and seeking the Lord’s voice make all the difference in your life?

Lord, help me be so close to You that Your voice is familiar to me. And, let me be so faithful in prayer that my cry is familiar to You too. Help me walk in beautiful intimacy with You. Amen.

About this Plan

Swhw Bible Reading Plan: April

Using God's Word as the foundation for our conversation, every devotional is written by women in the trenches of faith, family and work; aiming to live for the glory of God and the good of others. There are enough devotions included for a typical 5-day work schedule. We recommend plugging into your local church for the remaining two days of each week.
