UNCHURCHED
When I was younger I remember my mom dragging me to church and sitting me down next to her, forcing me to pay attention with her looks of destruction. I also remember my dad being in the choir and staring me down from the choir stand as to say "boy, if I have to tell you again (with my eyes) to be quiet, it won't be pleasant."
I was blessed to be trained by my parents as to how to carry myself in the house of God.
But recently I began to think, how do we as the church look at those that may not have had that training, or may not look the part, or act like what we're accustomed to seeing at our regular church gatherings? Are we as loving and inviting to our "unchurched" brothers or sisters?
Scripture in Hebrews 13:2 says “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.”
So I wrote the song Unchurched from the perspective of the unchurched as a friendly reminder that there was once a time we were all unchurched and the love of God cleaned us up and allowed us to be an example of His life-changing power.
