Get Over It!: Break Free From the Stuck CycleSample

Day 1: We All Get Stuck
God created us for connection. We are born longing for an intimate relationship with Him first and foremost. He wired us that way – with a desire to be loved and to belong. We learn about relationships with others at the earliest stage of our life - in our first experiences and interactions with our parents or caretakers at home. It is where we first learn about love and belonging. For many of us, this is where the stuck feeling starts. It is where we can begin to feel disconnected.
As much as I would like to say this is avoidable, it would require the impossible: perfect parenting and a perfect childhood. If the first attempts at belonging are strained, broken, breached, or violated, we can easily feel unloved and worse yet, unlovable.
The Enemy delights in every opportunity to disconnect us from the sense that we belong. His sole purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy our ability to be in connection with others in a healthy way. If this disconnection is left unresolved, it continues to manifest itself in all the relationships that follow. It becomes the established narrative; ultimately leaving us stuck and unable to live in the freedom Christ gave us through His sacrifice on the cross.
What is the issue, relationship, or set of behaviors that you feel stuck in or cannot seem to get past? What’s your story of disconnection? What is holding you back or keeping you down? The discovery of your “it” is the first step; it is the power to getting over – and living life “to the full.”
PRAYER:
Thank you, Lord, for creating me with a desire for connection. Thank you that all my desires are met in you. Thank you for sending your son, Jesus to allow me to be connected with You forever, despite the brokenness of the world and my sin. Thank you that you gave Him for us - that we would have "real and eternal life, more and better than we could dream of."
Help me to see the places where I have been hurt and the ways I have been unable to move forward. Meet me in my fears and remind me that you are with me. Restore me and renew me in Your Truth.
