Say No to Anxiety and FearSample
Set Your Mind on God
Anxiety comes from yielding to the cares of life. It’s rooted in fear. When fear comes in, it weaves its way through the fabric of every thought and feeling until you’ve taken on the care of what you fear.
To live a stress-free, joy-filled, power-filled life the way God wants you to, you have to keep your mind between the covers of the Bible until it is so washed with the Word of God (the way He thinks and lives) that every time a situation squeezes you, the Word pops out. Whatever goes on in your mind controls the level of peace you enjoy.
God wants you to have joy, even in the storm. Even if the wind is blowing, the thunder is crashing, and the rain is falling. Joy is your STRENGTH. He wants joy to be in you so strong that it keeps all the destructive fear away….so it dominates you even in the storms.
God tells us what to do about our thoughts:
• 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. You have supernatural help to keep your thoughts on God.
• Colossians 3:2-3 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. This proves that we can keep our mind on God, not on our cares.
• Philippians 4:8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. If it’s not true or honorable or right or pure or lovely or admirable, don’t think about it!
These verses can give you enough faith to change your thinking and help you say no to every anxiety and fear.
