Three Questions for Wives Sample
Are you his encourager?
Love and respect are closely intertwined, but there is a difference too. There is a reason that men are charged to love, while wives are charged to show respect: Respect is something our husbands deeply need. If you struggle to see how to show respect tangibly, think of being an admirer, an encourager, his biggest fan. This is so life-giving to men in a way we may not be aware of as women. Note: If this is really tough for you, don’t worry, you are not alone! Start by humbly asking God to show you a quality in your husband that you can admire.
Today’s Challenge:
Your husband wants to know that you have his back, you are on his team, and that you admire him. These things may feel simplistic, but it’s never a bad idea to let him know all the good things you think about him! Today, compliment your husband. Ask God for His help if needed. Find a way to show him you are on his team.
Going Deeper:
1. Ask God to convict you of any ways you have disrespected your husband, intentionally or unintentionally, in words, actions, or thoughts.
2. Ask your husband what you can do to help him feel respected and encouraged.
3. Ask your husband to be honest with you when he feels disrespected. When he tells you, take a deep breath and believe him. Fight the urge to defend yourself and instead apologize and learn from it.
4. Pray for God to show you daily how to be an encourager in your marriage.
Try this for 30 days, and let us know how you like being an encourager in your marriage.
