When going beyond and making a difference in your community, it is important to think about resources. What do we have to give? How much will it cost us? These are valid questions. This is why Jesus modeled a group effort in giving to those in need. Jesus is God and owns everything on earth, but as a human he chose to surround himself with a team (his disciples). He chose to model what we should be doing rather than what he could do as God. Jesus modeled unity and community outreach. He showed us how to work with others to accomplish a greater mission and that is the strategy.

You may have money and someone else may have the time—so you partner to meet a need. No one church should feel responsible for all the needs of the community. It should be a collective effort, and everyone should put what they have on the table to respond to the needs of their community and city. Resources grow when we connect with other people who carry the same mission as us. Jesus connected with people who wanted to help others.
