Finding A Treasure

DAY 3 OF 7

Family Now

… to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoptions as sons.

A few years ago I was privileged to go with my brother when he adopted a second child from Guatemala. It was just as exciting as giving birth!

When we first arrived at the orphanage it was overwhelming to see room after room of babies. When I was trying to have a baby I used to say, “There’s nothing sadder than a woman who wanted a baby.” But after seeing all these babies in need of mothers, I decided it’s even sadder to see babies who want mothers.

My brother and sister-in-law have the biggest hearts and knew that the Lord wanted them to have some of their children this way. Once while at my house, my sister-in-law told me that when she was pregnant one of her Guatemalan-born children asked if she had also been in her tummy. And she replied so beautifully, “that she was carrying this baby in her tummy, but she carried him in her heart.”

This wonderful demonstrations of love made it clear to me what God did to let us become His children. Just like my heart was breaking to see all the Guatemalan babies in need, God looked at the world and knew He had to help. He sent Jesus to rescue us. Jesus left the comfort of His home and redeemed us from the curse that we were born under. God took us as His own, and now He is our Father. We now have all we need because He loved us enough to adopt us.

Every time I see my brother’s family, I think how one act of compassion changed these children’s lives forever. And I think of how one act of God changed my life forever. I’m so thankful He carried me in His heart.

About this Plan

Finding A Treasure

In life the unexpected is sure to happen, and when it does, if you’re like me, you look for answers. In my book Finding A Treasure, I share my journey through life as a teacher and mother of five. After having a child with special needs I needed wisdom. You’ll see in all my searching I found that God's Word was THE Treasure that helped me find mine.
