Love That Leads to Victory

DAY 4 OF 5

“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” - 1 Corinthians 13:7 ESV

Endure All Things

What does it mean to endure? The definition in this verse means to bear bravely and calmly. When you love people, you will have to bear with them bravely and calmly. This is not always the easiest thing to do, but it is possible.

Love Is Brave

There is an aspect of love that puts you in a position to be vulnerable. You open your heart with your feelings and thoughts, and sometimes it can be scary. If you have lived any amount of time, you have been hurt by people you opened up to. We have all experienced it and it doesn’t feel right. However, I want to encourage you not to allow the pain in the past to stop the joy of the future.

You have to be brave to open up to people after being hurt. When you come to that point in any relationship, the pain from the past comes back to your memory, and you start to think about whether you want to open up again. Don’t allow the wrong people in your past to hold you back from the right people in your future.

Love Is Calm

When those feelings come up, love will enable you to respond calmly. I know it's easier to respond with your feelings, but it is definitely not better. Do you remember the last time you allowed your feelings to control how you responded? How did it work out for you?

“A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”- Proverbs 15:1 ESV

When you take the time to respond calmly, you make room for love. Sometimes the calmness of someone's voice can change the entire environment.

Respond in love; be brave and calm. When you do, you will change everything!

Confession Today

“Today, I will respond in love. I will be brave and not allow the pain of the past to determine my future. I will respond with a calm tone. Since a soft answer turns away wrath, it makes room for love. I will walk in victory because I will walk in love.”
