DAY 2 OF 5

Unity

Unity should be the mark that God is with someone or is somewhere. When Jesus prayed to the Father in John 17:23 he said, “I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me." (NIV translation). The evidence that God was going to be with his disciples was that they were going to be one and united. Therefore, God's mark in someone's life, in a church, in a business, or anywhere, is when we see unity. If we see division, fights, gossip, or that each person is on their side, the coverage of God is not there, and we are exposed.

The division is a strategy of Satan to weaken and remove us from God’s coverage. When we find ourselves without coverage, there is no protection, and we are exposed to his attacks. However, when we are united, when we strive to defend and keep unity, we enjoy God's protection because that is what Jesus asked for: “...so that they may be brought to complete unity.” That’s what is in Jesus’ heart.

It is important that at home, in church, or wherever God sends us to serve, we do so in unity and diversity because we are different, and we think in different ways. But it is important in the midst of diversity to seek unity. You must be a promoter of unity so that you have God's coverage and protection.

Let's pray together:

Dear God, thank you for your constant love and care. Please help me to be a promoter of unity in my home, in my workplace, in my church, and wherever you send me. I want to please you and honor you. Remove all division from my home and my life and help us to be one with you. I pray in Jesus' name, amen.
