What Dad NeedsSample
Response To Live Wisely
The Bible teaches us that all we need to do to be saved is call on the Lord and receive His gift of eternal life. However, receiving that gift and experiencing a relationship with God are two different things. As Christians, we understand that loving God must be shown through our ``actions and not just by our words. Although we are incapable of perfection and will fall short at some point, God searches our hearts and desires us to pursue Him above all else. The greatest gift we can offer God is our heart; the greatest gift we can offer our earthly father is giving God our heart. In some ways, this is a response to all that they have taught us: living wisely by choosing Christ.
In the same way that our Heavenly Father does not expect perfection, chances are our earthly father does not either. They desire a heart that is seeking wisdom and Christ above all else. Dads are happy to guide and redirect their children who are lost, but they are even happier in knowing that their children have received, listened, and developed an understanding of what they have been taught. When we desire to please our Heavenly Father, our earthly father is pleased.
Maybe you are unsure of how to please God’s heart. The answer is simple: show up. Over the past few days, we discussed several ways to honor our fathers; we can honor God in the same way. When we choose to respect His importance, carry out His legacy, spend time with Him in His Word and through prayer, and live out His commandments, God is delighted.
It is the same with our dads here on earth. They are filled with joy when they see us take the wisdom they have shared and shape our lives around it. Let us reflect on all that our fathers have taught us. How can you take those lessons and choose to live wisely?
Prayer: Father, we thank You for the past few days we have spent in this devotional. Thank You for teaching us about our fathers and about who You are. Help us to take all that we have learned and use it to reflect Your love. We ask that You bless our fathers. We bless Your name. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

About this Plan
Fathers are people who constantly sacrifice for their families with very little recognition. There are many ways to give back to these men in our lives, but it is sometimes difficult to know what they are and how to implement them everyday. As you dive into Biblical ways to recognize and strengthen your relationship with your earthly dad, you will also see the many ways they reflect our Heavenly Father.
