Bible & Beach 2021 - For All Forever

DAY 4 OF 5

Remember God’s Grace

Sometimes it takes repeating something for it to sink in. Really think about that. Sometimes it takes repeating something for it to sink in. In this important interaction between Jesus and Peter, Jesus asked Peter a question (Do you love me?) and gave him a command (Feed my sheep.) not once, not even twice, but three times. Why is this? It’s meant to remind Peter about the moment he denied following Jesus three times on the night he was crucified (if you’re not familiar with the story, be sure to check it out in John 18:13-27).

This could easily read like a moment where Jesus tried to make Peter feel really guilty for the horrible thing he did. He’s busted, and Jesus could easily tell him he’s no longer worthy to be His follower. But pay attention to the command that Jesus gave Peter. Instead of disqualification, Jesus’ words here served as a  promotion to lead others.

As we head back into regular life after camp, struggles and failures may happen (maybe it’s already happened). What are you going to do in the moments where you fail as a follower of Jesus? More importantly, what do you think Jesus will do with you when you fail, miss an opportunity, or give into temptation? It does not need to serve as a disqualification, because Jesus offers grace (grace is basically getting the opposite of what we deserve).

Let this settle in.

God’s grace is bigger than your mistakes.

God’s grace is bigger than your mistakes.

God’s grace is bigger than your mistakes.
