From Bethlehem to Moab, and Back Again: 5 Day Bible PlanSample

Day 3
Ruth 1:16b Your people will be my people and your God my God.
‘Watching you convinced me to follow God’ she said.
For years, I had attended the same church as this person. She’d seen the ups and downs in my life. She had seen me walk out of church one Sunday and return some weeks later in a wheelchair. Surgery on my back had damaged my legs.
Tough times.
And yet ‘watching you convinced me to follow God’.
Ruth shared Naomi’s life. She’d seen her in deepest mourning and, even in that, there was something to see of God.
Psalm 34:18a The LORD is close to the brokenhearted.
Watching Naomi pointed Ruth to God.
Even in Naomi’s mourning, there was something to see of God. Be encouraged.
Reflect: Does the way you deal with difficult situations point people to/glorify God?
Prayer: Father God, thank you that you come close in hard times. Help me to hold onto you, and let my life tell of your faithfulness. Amen

About this Plan

The first chapter of Ruth covers a lot of ground, literally and metaphorically. This plan looks at some of that journey and parallels it with the ups and downs in our own life journeys, reflecting on how God is always with us, and encouraging us to look for Him every day.
