DAY 2 OF 7

IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU

The first step towards accepting and enjoying God's great gifts is to move the focus from our unworthiness to Him. When we realize that God does everything for his glory, human nature moves to the background. "And who has given Him so much that He needs to pay it back? For everything comes from Him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen" (Romans 11:35:36, NLT).

Once we understand that God gives all gifts to glorify his name, we stop wondering why God treats us with such generosity. We start thinking of what we should be doing with it. Instead of thinking that our own goodness is being rewarded, we start praising God for using flawed humans to display his glory. We stop measuring our worth by the size of the gifts we receive. We start grasping a small part of his glory, which is so much greater than we can comprehend.

A gift that is too generous and great according to our human standards, reveals a lot about our understanding of God's riches and glory. If a gift from God does not match our small, imperfect nature, it does not reflect on us, it reflects on Him. "And my God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19, NLT).

"I give all the glory to God. It's kind of a win-win situation. The glory goes up to Him and the blessings fall down on me" – Gabby Douglas.

Let us choose to glorify the Giver of all the spectacular gifts we receive every day.

Has someone ever given you a gift that was too generous to accept? Did you wonder about the person's motives? We often miss out on God's great gifts because we struggle to accept them. In this Plan, we will examine some of the reasons why God daily lavishes us with such generosity. I hope that it helps you to enjoy God's gifts to the full every day.
