Don't Buy the LieSample
We buy the lie when we let ourselves be fooled by the enemy
We buy the lie when we allow ourselves to be deceived by our emotions, but also by the enemy.
The serpent shows himself to Adam and Eve to tempt them and question what God had said. It strikes me that Eve talks about the tree without knowing what the tree represented. God had told Adam that this particular tree contained all wisdom, but since she had received the second-hand revelation, she referred to the tree only as "that tree." The serpent tells her: "surely you are not going to die from eating the fruit of that tree." Eve buys the lie, eats the fruit, and then feeds Adam.
Adam and Eve were deceived by the enemy. That is what the enemy in your life comes to do: deceive you. During this season, the enemy has deceived a lot of believers who have given up, they have not remained in their faith, they have left their calling behind. They bought the lie of the enemy who questioned them, "Is it really how God says it is? Are you who God says you are? Can you do what God says you can do?" They bought the lie because they believed that God can work with and through others, but not them. I want to tell you today, stop buying the lie!
Although the case of Adam and Eve is very different than Esau and Jacob, we can find two similarities in both stories:
- They were deceived.
- They showed contempt for what God had given them.
When Adam and Eve believed the lie, they hid. When you buy the enemy's lie, it produces fear, and instead of drawing closer to God, you move away from Him.
Romans 8:15 says: "The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
Let's not forget we are sons of God, and he wants to have us close, as close as a Father!
Prayer: Father, thank you that you always protect me from the enemy. I ask you to help me not to fall into his deceptions. Give me the wisdom I need to respond to every situation where the enemy tries to divert me. I want to live near you, Lord, not far and hidden. Help me not to buy lies. In your name, amen.
