Believe

Have you ever felt that believing would be easier if you could see Jesus with your physical eyes? Thankfully, Jesus promised great blessings to those who believe in their hearts without seeing Him with their eyes.

Every day we are either led by the sights around us or guided by the Kingdom of God within us. If we’re not mindful of these ever-competing forces fighting for our loyalties, we may easily succumb to unbelief. Belief does not have to be based on what we see, but on the reality of our relationship with God, for we live by believing not by seeing (see 2 Corinthians 5:7)

Belief cannot be forced. Our belief in God grows and becomes firmly grounded the more we know and experience God. We then believe when we do not see because we trust He is on our side and is working all things out for our good (see Romans 8:28).

Many people in Jesus’ day saw Him but did not believe in Him. Today, where you are struggling with doubt, recall the good work God has done in your life. Let His presence strengthen your belief again.

Reflect: How hard is it for me to believe without seeing?

Pray: Lord Jesus, help my unbelief and forgive me when I trust only in what I can see with my physical eyes. Pour out Your grace and love as I choose to believe in the finished work of Your Son, Jesus, and the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in my life. You are faithful and trustworthy. Open my spiritual eyes to see what my natural eyes cannot.

Declare: I believe in Jesus, no matter what I see.

Act: Recall how God has shown Himself to you, in big and small ways. Your belief in God rests on a solid foundation of His Word and His work in your life.
