SWHW Bible Reading Plan: August 2021Sample

Top Takeaway from Caroline Foster:
The name Ezekiel means “God is strong” or “God Strengthens.” I love that reminder because it sums up the message of this incredibly powerful book so well. No matter what happens or what comes our way, the ways of the Lord will always prevail.
I am daily blown away by the fact that God chooses to work in and through me. I’m very aware that I am super unqualified to do His work. The mere fact that I am writing this to you is the Lord.
The fact that He does divine work through finite, imperfect people like me and you is a gift! We were literally made from dust, yet God chooses to place life and breath within us and allows us to serve Him.
Can you imagine what it must have been like for Ezekiel to experience this moment with God? I’m sure he was super confused, but he trusted God. God saw his obedient and willing spirit and filled him with everything he needed for the job ahead.
God warned Ezekiel that the people might not listen but do it anyway. I’ll be honest: I myself struggle with people-pleasing. I want to be liked by everyone, but as believers, we just have to know that pleasing people will not always be possible, especially within our culture’s current climate.
While the world says that success is having lots of customers or the corner office and making everyone happy, God reminds us often in many ways that success is simply obedience to Him.
I love how the notes in my study Bible sum it up: “God’s truth doesn’t depend on how people respond. God won’t judge us based on how others respond but on our faithfulness. God always gives us the strength to do what He calls us to do.”
Thank You, Lord, for using a wretched sinner like me. I am so undeserving of Your grace, yet You carry me every step of the way. You not only allow me but You choose me to be used by You. Thank You that I get to be a part of Your bigger story. Use me as a light today. In my home, on my team, on social media, as I work with my clients, or wherever You lead! Give me the eyes to see Your people. Amen.
About this Plan

Using God's Word as the foundation for our conversation, every devotional is written by women in the trenches of faith, family and work; aiming to live for the glory of God and the good of others. There are enough devotions included for a typical 5-day work schedule. We recommend plugging into your local church for the remaining two days of each week.
