Grasp the MomentSample
Grasp the Moment by Rocky Fleming
DAY TWO
Scripture:
“For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?” Luke 14:28
Thought:
In this passage, Jesus was using a comparison that most of the listeners would understand. The basic question comes down to cost. Jesus was speaking of the cost of being His disciple. But the question can also be applied to many things. Whatever we do in life there will be a cost, whether it is in money, time, freedom, or loss of something valuable such as our family. Therefore, you would think that getting the wisdom to do a cost analysis of sorts for all of your commitments would be very important? You would need to assign a priority on those things that are more important than others to make sure you are spending your time wisely. So let’s begin there.
Application:
Think about your priorities? Where do God, family, and even yourself fall on your priority list? Think of where your time and interests fall. Do you have quality family time? Do you interact with your children and spouse in a healthy way? Do you give yourself a time to rest and refresh? Do you make time on a regular basis to simply enjoy God?
Now this is where interaction starts as you apply these questions to your life. My question to you is this: “How are you doing with this?” Take time to answer this question honestly with yourself. Good or bad, be honest.
The next critical aspect of your interaction is personal application. Take time now to interact with the Lord, and ask Him to help you see the truth about how you are using your time. Take a moment now to seek your answer from Him through prayer.
Q: What do you think the Holy Spirit said to you when you asked for His wisdom?
Q: What adjustments in your life do you need to make to be obedient?
Response:
Make a commitment now to follow through with any changes you need to make in how you are investing your life. There is a cost required with all aspects of your life. Do you want to pay for empty pursuits that will leave you at best with an empty life, or do you want to invest yourself into a life that will pay heavenly dividends? You’ve got to make a choice one way or the other. Jesus tells us that we cannot serve two masters. I think His words apply to the choice you make today.

About this Plan
We all know our mission is to bring glory to God. But do we also understand that it is our mission as followers of Christ to “enjoy Him … forever?” When was the last time you simply enjoyed God? Let's interact with our King over the next few days and let Him teach us how to grasp the moment with Him.
