Gentleness: The Fruit of the Spirit a 7-Day Bible-Reading Plan by Kenneth Copeland MinistriesSample
How To Excel At Gentleness
Now that we know how many benefits come with the fruit of gentleness, the big question remains: How do we do it?
For those in a habit of yelling at drivers on the road, telling off salespeople, or having it out with co-workers, there is some work to be done, for sure. But with God all things are possible! He never asks us to do anything He won’t help us accomplish.
Like the other fruit of the spirit, gentleness is already inside you because you have Jesus inside you. He is perfectly gentle. That’s why people always flocked around Him when He was ministering on the earth. His gentleness made Him approachable and kept people from being intimidated by Him.
We want to do the same. We want to attract people to Jesus by displaying His gentleness in our own lives. So, if we want to excel in gentleness, we have to develop what’s already inside us by spending time in the Word. The more we do, the more we’ll renew our minds to what gentleness looks like.
Have you ever noticed that spending time with an angry person makes you feel angry inside? Or if you hang out with someone who is always complaining, you can start to do the same? On the other hand, if you spend time with someone who is positive and happy, it tends to make you feel the same way.
That’s what happens when we spent lots of time with Jesus. He starts to rub off on us! And that’s a good thing.
