Sereniti- 30 Days to a New Start Sample
Perception is a Curse Word
But when your eye is bad, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is! -Matthew 6:23-24 (NLT)
One definition of perception is an impression, an attitude or understanding based on what is observed or thought. (www.bing.com).
Be wise with your perception. Perceiving something to be what it is not, is just as bad as cursing someone to their face. False and premature perception leads to inaccurate conclusions. It can be detrimental to relationships. I've seen firsthand where connections were severed because of how something seemed, not how it actually was.
The danger of perception is that it constantly causes us to see with fear instead of faith or from a place of darkness rather than light. Perception mismanaged will make you think that what truly exists doesn't exist at all.
Here's the secret of cultivating the right kind of perception: let it be God-centered. Then, when you welcome the mind of Christ into your thought process, you filter everything from that place- and leave nothing up to your human perception. At that moment, you can rest comfortably in the presence of God's truth.
Meditation:
Matthew 6:23-24, Colossians 3:1-2
Prayer:
Father, I thank you that, today, I can stand on Your truth which is the word of God. I thank you that when my incorrect perceptions try to overtake me, the facts I find in Your word prove to always be accurate and strong. Help me with the truth, the faith, and the compassion of what you've already established. In Jesus' name, Amen.
