Daily Bible Reading – September 2021, God’s Word of WisdomSample
September 30
Introduction
Written in poetic form, today’s reading describes the elusive nature of wisdom. The image of mining for precious metals is used to describe the search for wisdom (see also Proverbs 2:4).
Today’s Scripture Reading
Job 28:1-28
Today’s Key Verse: Job 28:28
God said to us humans, “To be wise, you must have reverence for the Lord. To understand, you must turn from evil.”
Reflect
According to today’s reading, what is true wisdom and where does it come from? Does modern society define wisdom the same way? In what ways do you seek wisdom?
Pray
Lord God, guide me each day and help me to grow in my knowledge of you. Such wisdom is worth more than silver or gold and is more precious than the finest jewels. Teach me to have reverence for you, O Lord. Amen.
