Moments for Mums: Hope - Part 1Sample
I remember a moment, early in the fog of new motherhood, when I had been sitting up in bed, feeding my baby. For a moment, I thought (dreamed?) that I had put her back in her bassinet, but when I looked down, there she was still feeding away peacefully!
When we become mothers, it doesn’t take long to realise that as much as we love our children, we can’t watch them, protect them, or care for them 100% of the time. It’s easy to become anxious when we realise just how powerless we are.
In this passage, we get a glimpse into how deep and all-consuming God’s love is for His people. Here God is speaking about his people, in response to some saying that he’d left them. As much as we love our kids, the love of God for his people is even more—he will not leave us.
Our hope is not in our own ability to keep it all together, to be perfect mothers, or even to pursue God perfectly. We will certainly fail in these things at times!
Our only hope is that God never forgets His people, and He is holding onto us.
Question:
When are you tempted to put your hope in things outside of God? And how can you remember to put your hope in God today?
Prayer:
Dear Lord, Thank you for your amazing love. Thank you that you love me and remember me even more than I love and remember my own children. Please help me to remember the real hope I have in You today. Amen.
