Finding Happiness in Christ (Series 5)Sample
A language that everyone understands
For His merciful kindness is great toward us, and the truth of the Lord endures forever! Praise the Lord! (Psalm 117:2)
Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote in Little House in the Ozarks, "We must help a neighbor in the winter. Although the temperature in winter is still quite warm, without firewood, the air temperature is still cold. Because of this rheumatic disease, our neighbors are not strong enough to collect wood supplies during the winter. He only managed to gather a little wood, and this left his family still feeling cold.
So the male neighbors of this father gathered one morning to visit him. They helped him chop wood with saws and axes. They did this work throughout the day, and as night drew near, they managed to accumulate a sufficient supply of wood to be used throughout the winter.
The women did their part too. All morning they kept coming in with baskets full of food. When noon came, the long table was filled with dinner. When the dishes were washed, they sewed, knitted, and talked all afternoon. Those were good times, and we all went home with feelings expressed by one of our new neighbors who said, "Do you know how proud I am to be able to live in such an environment?"
Kindness is a universal language that is understood by all.
Kindness is a language that the deaf can hear and the blind can see.
Reflection: Doing good is not just an event to want to be known by many people, or get a stamp as a good person later. But the good things done as children of God is a form of radiance as followers of Christ.
I can't even imagine where I would be now if it weren't for a group of friends who have given me a heart filled with joy.
