Finding Happiness in Christ (Series 3)Sample
How Can We Be Happy?
He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. (1 John 2:10)
Once a group of 50 people attended a seminar. Suddenly the speaker stopped talking and decided to do a group activity. He started giving a balloon to everyone. Each person was asked to write their name on the balloon using a pen. Then all the balloons were collected and placed in another room. All participants were then asked to enter the room and look for balloons with their names within 5 minutes. In a panic, everyone tried to find balloons with their names, bumping into each other, pushing each other, and a commotion ensued. After 5 minutes, no one could find their balloon.
Now everyone was asked to pick a balloon at random and give it to the balloon's owner. Within minutes everyone had their balloon. The speaker said – This is what happens in our life. Everyone frantically searches for happiness everywhere because they don't know where happiness is. Happiness lies in others' happiness. Give happiness to them, and you will get your happiness. And this is the purpose of human life. Isn't this what you're looking for?
Reflection: Selfishness is a major problem and the biggest reason why humans can't get happiness. The only way for our lives to be filled with happiness is to suppress the ego until it no longer reigns in our lives. Strive to win the battle of ego every time it starts to rise.
Love is God's abundant joy which meets the needs of others with joy.
