12 Benefits to Reading the Bible

DAY 3 OF 3

Living the Good Life

God loves you so very much. He wants you to have every benefit and blessing that Jesus died to give you. Ephesians 3:1 says all those blessings already belong to you! But if you don’t look into His Word, you won’t know what belongs to you. You won’t know that the good life in Christ has already been bought and paid for – for you!

But when you read the Bible on a regular basis, here’s what you find:

9. Matthew 12:34-35 – It makes your life go well. Good heart = good life. We know what’s going on INSIDE someone’s life by what we see OUTSIDE. If you have a strong spirit, you have a strong life. A “good life” isn’t luck or coincidence, it comes from the inside, from your spirit.

10. Isaiah 26:3 – It keeps your mind sharp and clear. If you’re confused, distracted, overwhelmed, scattered, you’ve probably been trying to live life in your own strength, and you’re wearing down. When you’re full of the Word, you’re living life in God’s strength and everything He promises is available to you (peace, joy, rest, no fear, etc.).

11. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 – It helps you control your thoughts. You need to know the Word well enough to compare what’s on your mind with what’s on God’s mind and bring your thoughts into captivity. You can decide what you’ll think on. You can’t fight thoughts with thoughts. You fight them by speaking the Word.

12. Joshua 1:8 – It helps you to prosper and have good success His way. That is true success – that is living the good life!

Day 2

About this Plan

12 Benefits to Reading the Bible

Does the Bible seem like an old, outdated book, written more to farmers and shepherds than to you and me today? Well, the good news is that the Bible is NOT outdated, out-of-touch or obsolete. It’s just as applicable today as it’s always been. It’s God talking to us -- it’s alive, it’s powerful, and it has all the answers we need to win at life. So let’s read it!
