Saved by God, the Story of Noah and the Great Flood

DAY 4 OF 10

God offers an escape

“Make yourself an ark of gopher wood … and you shall come into the ark, you, your sons, your wife, and your sons' wives with you.” (Genesis 6:14, 18)

God’s judgment will come upon “all flesh”. But God provides a way out. He instructs Noah to make an ark, a massive ship. In it, his family will be safe when God destroys the earth with a flood of water. The ark must be so big that it also has room for all kinds of animals and a large supply of food. This is an enormous project!

Note that nothing of the announced flood is to be seen when Noah is commissioned to build the ark. Hebrews 11:7 comments, “By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household.”

The Lord has also announced judgment to us. This earth will not last forever, and its inhabitants will eventually be punished for their rebellion against God. But there is a way out. We can be saved if we accept that Jesus Christ died in our place and that He is Lord in our lives. That requires faith in “events as yet unseen”, as with Noah.

Do you believe in Jesus as your Savior?
