Jesus: What the World Will Never Take

DAY 1 OF 5

Day 1: Who Do You Say Jesus Is?

With all that is happening in our world, we can be reminded this week, through these devotions, through the challenges,  that there is something that the world will never take from us…… that is Jesus!

As we begin this week take some time to think about/ write down/ talk to someone about these questions:

1. When I think of Jesus, I think….

2. I think Jesus is….

3. When I wonder what I was put on Earth for, I tend to….

4. If living for Jesus isn’t my purpose, what is?

5. What will living that kind of life accomplish for me?

Who do you think Jesus is?

Maybe your answer is… I don’t know, I don’t care, a lie, a made-up person, a person who lived and died like every other person, a good teacher, someone you’d like to learn more about, a friend, God’s Son who died for you. Did you know that no matter what you answered that Jesus feels the same way about you as He does about those that know Him and love Him: He loves you!

I want to ask you another question:

Who are you listening to about who Jesus is, where do you get your information from? Is it your family, the internet, friends, church, Youth Group, teachers, Social media? Have you really looked into whoJesus is for yourself, I mean really taken time to discover who He is?

How important is it that we believe the right things about Jesus? We believe that it is life-changing and eternally important. Why? Because what we believe determines how we behave and how we live our life here on Earth and what our future holds. We want to take you on a journey this week by providing different ways to discover more about who Jesus is for yourself.

Luke, the author of a book in the Bible, tells us that he has researched and spoken to eyewitnesses ‘so you can be certain of the truth of everything you were taught’. (Luke 1:4) He spoke to people who had met Jesus and were there to witness the things that he teaches us about Jesus. In Luke we read that Jesus' mum, Mary is told by an angel that she “will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. And he will reign over Israel forever; his Kingdom will never end!” Luke 1:31-33. Wow imagine discovering that you are going to have a baby, that it will be a boy and that you are to name him Jesus (which means: to deliver, rescue: saviour) all before you even knew you were pregnant.

One of the ways we can discover more about who Jesus is through the many names that He is given throughout the Bible. They help us to build a picture of who he was and what he was like. In the Bible, names and their meaning are very important. They tell a lot about a person and their family’s story.

Do you know how you got your name, or what your name means? If you don’t know what your name means you can look it up. Does your name and its meaning reflect who you are?

Jesus invitation to us-

“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends." Revelation 3:20

Day 2

About this Plan

Jesus: What the World Will Never Take

With all that is happening in our world a lot of what we can normally do has been taken from us. In these devotions written for teens, we will be reminded that through the challenges of gathering online for messages and worship, there is something that the world will never take from us...that is Jesus!
