DAY 53 OF 92

THE FINISHED WORK

In John 16, we see Jesus lovingly give a warning to His disciples because He knows exactly what is ahead. He warns them about the rejection they will face as a result of their faith in Him and their decision to follow Him.

He also tells them about the coming of the Holy Spirit following His departure. He assures them that they will not be deserted, but rather accompanied by the Holy Spirit.

Lastly, He tells His disciples of the marvelous and immeasurable joy that will be theirs following their momentary time of grief. The joy and peace that they will experience will not be world-bound or subject to circumstances, but rather completely dependent on the very finished work of Jesus at the cross.

Today, do you find yourself rejected or perhaps facing other types of persecution simply because of your faith in Jesus? I can tell you that you are in good company! You and I, as followers of Jesus, will be subject to such rejection and even persecution for His namesake, but we can rest assured that we are not alone. The same Spirit promised to the disciples is with us today, and the difficulties we face as followers of Christ will one day be in the shadows of the glory of Heaven.

Be encouraged today that Jesus is for you and is with you.

FAMILY CONNECTION:

Everyone needs help sometimes! Talk about the last time that you needed help. Would you have finished the project without that help? The Bible tells us that we have been sent a helper. The Holy Spirit is in our lives to give us confidence and strength to follow God. How can you ask the Holy Spirit to help you with some things happening in your life right now?
