Daily Bible Reading – October 2021: God’s Word of JusticeSample

October 22
Introduction
The prophet Amos has another vision. This time it is a basket of ripened fruit — an indication that a time of judgment and punishment has come. Images of an earthquake, eclipse, and famine are used to describe the impending doom and destruction.
Today’s Scripture Reading
Amos 8:1-14
Today’s Key Verse: Amos 8:9a
The time is coming when I will make the sun go down at noon and the earth grow dark in daytime.
Reflect
Reread verses 4-6. What dishonest practices were taking place? According to verse 11, what will the people hunger and thirst for? Have you ever felt “parched,” with a sense of longing for God?
Pray
Lord God, I hunger and thirst for Your message. Thank You for Your tender mercies and for renewing me each day with Your life-giving Word. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Prayer Concern
Business merchants
Tomorrow’s Reading
