Abiding in Christmas

DAY 3 OF 26

"Abiding in Christmas: Daily Advent Thoughts" by Bryan Craig

DAY THREE

Then the Lord said, “I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters. I know their sufferings, and I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. (Exodus 3:7-8 ESV)

Again, in our Advent thoughts, we are camping out in the Old Testament. Why? Because the story of Jesus started in the very beginning. It is a love story of a God who created us and has longed for the fellowship He once had with us in the very beginning. He is pursuing a relationship with us. He sees our lives and cares about our struggles and concerns. In the passage above, we see yet another example of God providing a rescue plan. His deliverance of the Israelites from Egypt is a foreshadowing of the deliverance He wants to provide all of His children. He sees our afflictions and hears our cries, and He came down in the form of His Son, Jesus, to deliver us. He will bring us out of this temporary home into the Promised Land that Jesus has prepared for us.

APPLICATION: Where are you hurting? Cry out to the Father, and He will hear you. But also listen to see if He’s saying something to you about your life.
