Through the Bible: IsaiahSample
God’s Not Finished
But God’s not finished. He’s waiting around to be gracious to you. He’s gathering strength to show mercy to you. God takes the time to do everything right—everything. Those who wait around for him are the lucky ones.
Isaiah 30:18 (MSG)
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:9 (NIV)
All across the Bible, we see the very heart of God that is intrinsically just and good. His love results in forgiveness of the disobedience and supersedes the brokenness He sees, awaiting, again and again, His people to return to Him. Isaiah means “Salvation of Yahweh”. The book of Isaiah resonates with the very core of God’s heart, an urgent call to His people who are consumed by evil desires and rebellion, to turn in repentance to Him, for judgement awaits otherwise. His heart reaches out amidst all sinfulness. God’s not finished. He later prophesied of the Incarnate Christ, to redeem and set sinners free. Recognising our sinfulness, surrendering to Him is the first step in coming to our Heavenly Father; trusting Him with our failures and weaknesses. He is ready to receive us in full embrace, to encounter His liberating love and grace. Only through Christ, we are set free and empowered to live the abundant life of Kingdom purposes. Let our hearts not be hardened but a well-watered ground for His glory.
Prayer
Father God, thank You for Your covenantal love for us. May we awaken to Your Truth, as sons and daughters to bear Your Kingdom's seal of love and authority to the lost. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
About this Plan
The book of Isaiah, which contains 66 chapters, is called “the Bible in miniature.” The first 39 chapters summarise the Old Testament which addresses the judgement of sins and the hope in God. The other 27 chapters foreshadow the New Testament which addresses the Gospel of Jesus and how God’s people will inherit His kingdom victoriously. If you want to have a Bible overview, this is the to-go book.
