WHY DO YOU DOUBT IT?
Mathew 14:22-33
"So He said, "Come." And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!" And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" (Mathew 14:29-31)
There was a servant of God who taught about faith in a simple way. Even a small child could understand it. It says: "Fish can only live because of water." The same thing applies to righteous people who can only live by faith. A person who does not live by faith is not a believer because, without faith, it is impossible to please the Lord.
The foundation of faith is the words of God. We must find the words of God about divine healing to be the basis of our faith when we have faith for healing. That is like someone who must buy essential ingredients such as flour, eggs, etc., to bake a cake. We are often disappointed with God because our prayers are not answered. It's not that God doesn't answer, but that we don't have a basis for the answers of our prayers to rest. God created this whole world with His Word. Therefore, if we have the Word as the basis of our life, then the Word will create what we believe.
That's why Jesus said to Peter when Peter almost drowned while walking on water: "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" (Matthew 14:31). Another translation says: "Why are you rethinking?" or "Why is your faith small?" Feelings of doubt usually come from distrust or suspiciousness to someone whose faithfulness we doubt. When we are suspicious, we accuse God that He is not able to take care of us. That is why Jesus always teaches us to trust God wholeheartedly without hesitation.
Reflection:
1. Do you still have doubts about God in your heart?
2. Have you ever been disappointed with God because your prayers went unanswered? How do you handle it?
Application:
When doubt strikes – believe and go!
