SWHW Bible Reading Plan: November 2021Sample

Top Takeaway from Audra Haney:
I have a soft spot for Paul’s letters to the church of Thessalonica. After living and serving with missionaries in the modern-day city of Thessaloniki for a year after college, I feel a connection to this church that Paul planted so early in his ministry. I love the city, the people, and the culture. Certainly, much has changed since the 2000 years after Christ’s resurrection, but I was able to walk the same beaches, smell the same sea air, and take in the same mountain views.
There’s another thing I wish to share; their reputation.
Paul writes to his church family after Timothy returns from a visit with a glowing report. When Paul, Silas, and Timothy think of these believers, they think of three things:
“We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 1:3
Even as these earlier believers endured persecution and opposition, their reputation was one of standing strong. Like these brothers and sisters in Christ, I pray my life would reflect the same.
Our work can be motivated by so many other things. Is our work produced purely by our faith in Jesus, His promises, and His purposes?
Our labor can be propelled by so many other things. Is my labor prompted by my genuine love for God’s people? Am I helping those in need from an overflow of grace in my own life? Am I burdened for the lost?
We can hope in so many empty things. Is our hope built on the gospel and the solid rock of God’s promises?
We may not live in the same generation as these early believers, but our call remains the same. Just as I shared their city, we can share their passion to live out their faith.
In a world far from God, may we be marked by exceptional faith, hope, and love.
Father God, Your grace is overwhelming to me. You have given me so much that I could never earn or deserve. I pray that the truth of Your gospel alive in my life would overflow into everything and everyone around me. I pray I’d be a light in a dark world and that my faith, hope, and love would bring my brothers and sisters in Christ great hope. Amen.
About this Plan

With God's Word as the foundation, each devotional is written by women in the trenches of faith, family and work, aiming to live for the glory of God and the good of others. There are enough devotions included for a typical 5-day work schedule. We recommend plugging into your local church for the remaining two days of each week.
