4 Reminders of Who You Are in ChristSample

4 Reminders of Who You Are in Christ

DAY 2 OF 4

When I was growing up in elementary school, our gym class often broke out into teams to play some sort of sport. Two people would be picked as captains, and they would take turns choosing people for their teams until there was no one left.

I was not the athletic or competitive type—meaning I was often chosen last and sometimes as a default pick because there was no one left!

Life can sometimes feel like being out on the playing field at school—where everyone else seems to be chosen as the friend, for the promotion, etc.—everyone but you.

That can feel so devastating—to not be wanted. But friend, be encouraged—God chose you!  And he KEEPS choosing you no matter what you do!

Jesus chose to willingly go to the cross for you. He paid the ultimate ransom for you. And this wasn’t a choice made by default or on a whim. We read in Ephesians 1:4 that God chose us before the foundations of the world! You were in his heart and mind long ago.

He has chosen you for redemption. He has chosen you for good works that glorify his name.

So while in the world you may sometimes feel overlooked, know that in the kingdom—our forever home—you are valued. You are Christ’s first choice.

Affirmation: I am chosen.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I feel so discouraged. I’m hurting. It feels like I am always over looked and unwanted. Help me change my gaze from the world and my feelings and fix my gaze on you and the truth that I am chosen in Christ. Thank you for choosing me. Thank you for loving me and for comforting me when I feel left out. Amen.
