Over my years in the pastorate I have observed children praying with fervency and passion. These intercessors always had a parent who encouraged them that they matter to God. Raising a child who prays is very much doable, even in our fast-paced and broken culture. As you learn to rely on the Lord and His grace, you will discover wisdom from above that will guide you throughout the many seasons of your parental life. You’re not on your own. God is with you. And your child will follow suit as you stay the course.

Twitter is a great way to connect with and influence a lot of people. Consider taking a selfie with your child and post it alongside of their prayer. Since Twitter presently limits you to 140 characters, your child’s prayer should be focused and simple. God is not limited by space, distance, or the vehicle we use to offer our prayers. Who knows, your child’s prayers may go viral. This is not an attempt to be cute. It is using kid power in a contemporary way to bring the needs of the broader society to Jesus. Remember to share with your child the response of the tweets your followers post about his prayers. This will be most encouraging.
