DAY 1 OF 3

I can still remember that moment in my first labour when I was sure I couldn’t handle another contraction (you know the moment I’m talking about…). I sobbed to the midwife, “I just want to go to sleep!”

And I was sure I heard her say, “You’ll never sleep again!” (although my husband tells me she actually said, “You couldn’t sleep if you tried”).

Since that moment, there have been many moments in motherhood where I felt like I just couldn’t go on. I couldn’t handle one more tantrum, one more stinky nappy, or one more sink full of dishes. 

It’s in those moments—when I’m at my absolute weakest—that I see how God’s strength truly is enough. You don’t have to be a mother for long before you realise you’re not enough on your own. 

But the beauty comes when you get to see firsthand how God’s power is enough for you.

Question

Which part of motherhood exposes your weakness at the moment? How can you lean on God’s strength in that area?

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you that you are strong in my weakness. Thank you that you are enough when I am not. Please help me. Give me strength and help me to look to you each day. Amen.
